Aspirations 11.3/4.2011

Aspirations
11.3/4.2011

I remembered
and every phrase
or part of body therein
was disconnect

She was fantastic
but grew less bright
ambition, motivation dim-
enough for her, not him

He had larger aspirations:
to see the bright sky and
feel hot blood run in vein-
his dreams were higher

She was the dream as vapor
Tugging as soon as offering
Whisking as soon as riding
For the waves were kind, we

Were stuck inside a picture
with the borders bleeding free
sailing over wall elegantly neat;
inside the smoke bloom we meet

She sits there staring at me
Asking to know my face or response;
Less desiring to wake and embrace
Than relax in the crystal(,) sleep spawns

He was commanded by another
was not himself around others, but smiled
for his cage was there, holding tight
the jail was iron; temptation relented

so mastery was born; I am the master
of my own fate and way (the winds also)
Decide victory and it shall be so;
Concede before starting is defeat

Aspire high, throw net far
Constellations have our love printed
and far away we are watched admiringly;
everlasting the winds, buffeting in directions*

James P McCabe

*Change was proposed to awaken
welcomed with open heart to inner chamber;
discussion held within trunk for truth
one path emerges: do, not think

For we would be lead to think to empty victory
yet never feel the trophy or sense its presence;
If we aspire high, we hit the stars aiming for moon-
We land farther than thought
